Fashion Reigns — Especially In March
Be ready for fashion the moment you enter the Big White Tent during Fashion Week El Paseo™. Couture, ready-to-wear, children’s lines, menswear, even couture for dogs — you’ll see it all paraded down the runways March 16-23, 2013.
Fashion Week El Paseo™, presented by Palm Springs Life, is a sharp addition to the desert’s high-style landscape, says the show’s producer, Susan Stein. “It brings in many visitors from outside the desert,” she says. “This event has created worldwide recognition and awareness of El Paseo and California fashion.”
The Best of Saks Fifth Avenue Spring 2013 kicks off the fun. The show will be followed by an after-party at Palm Springs Art Museum in Palm Desert. The next day, the popular Le Chien: A Celebration of Dogs and Fashion returns for a second year, with proceeds from the event again benefiting Humane Society of the Desert. Also returning are shows featuring exciting Project Runway designers.
Fashion and beauty are indelibly intertwined, and that’s why everyone loves the Style & Beauty Bash. You can make an appointment to have your hair and makeup done by one of more than 30 salons and spas and enjoy over-the-top makeovers that models undergo at the Extreme Hair Showcase.
The Designer of the Week show is another favorite. This year’s event will highlight the creations of couture designer Gilbert Chagoury, who trained with Dior and has dressed many celebrities, including Eva Longoria, Katy Perry, and Edie Falco.
A new addition to this year’s schedule promises to be a must-do event: the Fashion Group International Lunch, which will draw representatives of the local chapter of FGI, a nonprofit with 5,000 members worldwide who are in the fashion industry. At the luncheon, 10 interior designers will be creating tabletop designs. A people’s choice vote will let you decide which setting is the most imaginative.
The excitement continues even after you leave the tent. All week long, you can choose from a schedule of more than 350 in-store events, including trunk shows and designer appearances, that will be occurring up and down the avenue.

Food and drink lovers flock to Food + Wine Festival Palm Desert™, which returns to the Big White Tent March 22-24, 2013. You’ll be able to sample cuisine and wine pairings from more than 45 award-winning restaurants and help others while doing so. Proceeds from the event benefit the Culinary Institute of America’s Endowed Scholarship Fund.
